Asheer Johnson, 18, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, aggravated assault, and possession of hollow point bullets. The Toms River Police Department announced the charges in a news release.

Officers responded to a report of a fight involving a gun at a home on Oxford Street at around 10:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 2. A man said that another man came to his home and pulled out a gun after banging on the front door.

The man with the gun went around to the back door and the victim heard a loud bang, then ran upstairs to call police. When officers arrived, they found a bullet hole in the back storm door, a bullet lodged into another downstairs door, and a shell casing on the back patio.

The victim told police he was familiar with the suspect who was identified as Johnson. Another man living on Irving Place also reported he was threatened with a gun by a man matching Johnson's description.

Police arrested Johnson at his home and officers seized an unregistered gun.
